Cookies Mubta sets

All of them are needed for the site to work and to keep your account safe. None is used for advertising or to follow you on other websites.

  • mubta-session: keeps you signed in and remembers your language and choices while you use Mubta. It ends when you sign out, or after a period without activity (two hours by default).
  • XSRF-TOKEN: a security token that stops other websites from sending forms in your name. It lasts as long as your session.
  • remember_web_…: keeps you signed in on this device for about 400 days, only if you tick «Remember me» when you sign in. Signing out removes it.
  • mubta_device: recognises this browser, so we can tell you by email when someone signs in to your account from a new device. It lasts two years and holds only a random code.
  • cookie_notice: remembers that you have seen this notice, so it is not shown again. It lasts one year.
  • promo: keeps the promo code from a partner's link you opened, to apply it at checkout. It lasts 30 days and is set only when you open a partner's link.

Browser storage

The site and the app also keep a few things in your browser's own storage. They stay on your device and are not sent to us:

  • Your answers to the starting questions before you create an account, for that visit only.
  • Small preferences: light or dark theme, the side menu shrunk or open, messages you dismissed, the universities in your comparison and checklists already celebrated.

Services from other companies

Some features load a service from another company. It may set its own cookies, under its own policy, only when you use that feature:

  • Google reCAPTCHA, on some forms (sign-up, contact, comments, newsletter), to stop automated misuse.
  • Sign in with Google or Apple, only when you choose it.
  • Tuwaiq Pay's payment page, only when you pay for a plan.
  • YouTube videos (how-to-apply tutorials, the home page video), shown through YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, when you play one.
  • OpenStreetMap maps and Google's document viewer, when you open a university's map or guide.
  • The Saudi Business Center verification badge, which shows our registration as a verified store.

The Chrome extension

The Mubta extension does not set cookies. It keeps the link to your account, your settings and your universities' domains in the extension's own storage on your browser, as the privacy policy explains.

Your choices

The cookies Mubta sets are necessary, so they cannot be switched off while you use Mubta. You can delete them at any time in your browser settings; you will then be signed out, and the cookie notice will show again.
